Utagawa Kuniyoshi
歌川国芳 (Utagawa Kuniyoshi, 1797–1861) — the rebel of ukiyo-e. He painted warriors covered in tattoos, cats performing kabuki, and supernatural creatures so vivid they made censors nervous. His 1827 Suikoden series single-handedly sparked Japan's irezumi tradition, and the cats were just for fun.
